Classroom Management
Classroom Managment Philosophy
In order for students to be the best learners they can be, it is essential that students feel welcome, safe, and supported in their learning environment. From the beginning of our time together we work to create a set of expectations, using our school wide rules and systems as a starting point. As shared stakeholders, throughout our time together we hold each other accountable for these expectations to create an atmosphere of mutual respect.
During this process, we also create a clearly defined and established structure for what happens when individuals do not meet the expectations of our community. This structure focuses on restoring the individual back into our community, and therefore is regularly handled within the classroom so that their musical learning and experience is not compromised. Students are not removed from the classroom unless the issue is ongoing and repetitive in nature or when students’ safety or experiences are in jeopardy.
